The Company

With headquarters in the USA, this role will be based out of an ideally positioned office in a desirable part of Melbourne's CBD. Our client is an iconic and global business in the media and entertainment sector. The Role 

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller,  you will be a vital member of a small but high performing finance team .Your key tsks will include, but will not be restricted to:

  • Own the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and posting of journal entries, accruals, provisions, prepayments, and fixed assets/depreciation.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate general ledger records, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for both Australian and Indian entities.
  • Prepare and review intercompany journals and reconciliations.
  • Assist with preparation of management and statutory financial statements in accordance with local requirements and company policies.
  • Prepare financial analyses and insights to support operational decision-making.
  • Oversee the AP and AR processes for Australia and India operations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting and tax requirements.
  • Appropriately account for and report on withholding taxes (WHT) and GST as required.
  • Oversee monthly credit card reconciliations and staff reimbursement accounting.
  • Ensure supplier and customer records are accurate and payments/receipts are processed on time.
  • Prepare WHT/GST remittance information for the India Income Tax Department.
  • Assist with statutory audit processes, providing supporting documentation and responding to auditor queries.
  • Support local tax reporting requirements in coordination with external advisors.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and internal policies.
  • Partner with non-financial departments to provide financial guidance and ensure accurate recording of business transactions.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Controller and global finance teams to align processes and reporting frameworks.
  • Support ad hoc projects, analysis, and requests as needed.

The Successful Candidate

CA /CPA qualified and with a relevant business degree, you will be a well credentialed finance professional. You will have strong technical accounting skills that you will have developed from working in both financial and management accounting roles. You will have a strong understanding of Accounts Payable and Receivable and will be confident working with the overseas AP and AR team. Naturally, you will have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills and will be capable of building strong working relationships across all levels within the business. Systems savvy, previous experience with large ERP systems such as Netsuite would be ideal.
