The Role
As an Assistant Director (Program/Project Manager) at the Department of Education, you will create a better future for Australians through education.
Leading a team, you will be responsible for managing key projects and the effective delivery of programs that support improved early learning, schooling, student educational outcomes and transitions to and from school through access to quality early childhood and care, support, parent engagement, quality teaching and learning environments.
The Branch has a responsibility to deliver, support and drive effective Child Care Subsidy (CCS) program implementation and management. Key functions of the Branch include:
- delivering CCS integrity measures
- achieving program savings
- risk identification and management
- prioritisation and response development.
Duties and Responsibilities
In this role, your responsibilities will include the following:
- Managing the team's delivery of education programs/projects, ensuring compliance with relevant departmental frameworks, government legislation and standards.
- Fostering an inclusive and positive team culture, providing leadership, and supporting team members to enhance their capability, professional development and contributing to a high performing team.
- Providing expert advice, guidance and support, and facilitating program/project reporting to inform a portfolio view, overseeing compliance, quality assurance and identifying emerging risks and issues.
- Collaborating with and maintaining effective and supportive relationships with stakeholders, to understand needs, provide support, enable effective governance and delivery.
- Using professional judgement, manage risk and provide assurance regarding compliance with legislative, policy and financial requirements.
- Supporting the strategic direction of the department through accurate data, reporting and documentation for Senior Executives, promoting data driven decision making.
- Supporting a continuous improvement approach and ensuring accurate and timely maintenance of program/project artefacts.
Qualifications and Education
PRINCE2 Foundation Training or equivalent (Mandatory)

Eligibility
Citizenship - to be eligible for employment with the Department, you must be an Australian Citizen or, in limited circumstances, in the process of obtaining it.
Security Clearance - our successful candidate is required to hold, or have the ability to obtain, and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
