Details: Lead the Future of Canberra's Sport and Recreation Facilities.
The City and Environment Directorate (CED) is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Director, Facilities and Contracts to join our Sport and Recreation Facilities team. This leadership role is responsible for managing contracts, sub-leases, and licenses across more than 120 community sportsgrounds and recreational spaces, ensuring they meet safety and industry standards. You'll also support maintenance-focused program of works and support procurement processes that enhance the delivery of high-quality community facilities.
We're looking for someone with strong project and contract management experience, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and a passion for community sport infrastructure. You'll work closely with stakeholders across government, industry, and the sporting community to deliver efficient, customer-focused services. A background in asset management, procurement, or infrastructure delivery will be highly regarded, along with relevant qualifications or equivalent experience.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. project management, procurement or contract management) or a minimum of 5 years' experience deemed equivalent is desirable
- Competent in the Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge and experience in asset, resource and data management
- Knowledge and experience with Geographic Information Systems is desirable
- Permanent resident of Australia
- Current drivers Licence
- Workplace Health and Safety Induction (White Card) or a willingness to obtain; General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Asbestos awareness card or a willingness to obtain - Asbestos Awareness Training and evidence of completion delivered by a Registered Training Organisation is required prior to commencement, for further information refer to: Asbestos Awareness Training - WorkSafe ACT
Notes: An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. This position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk. Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
