About the role

Our Database team is responsible for designing, building, running and optimising database architecture for our customers. 

As an Oracle specialist you will handle day-to-day support of customer database environments. This includes incident response, monitoring, tuning, and maintenance. You will also work closely with project teams to deliver database components for customer projects.

This role blends operational ownership with project delivery and requires a strong focus on stability, performance, and customer outcomes.

  • Design, implement, and support high-performance, secure, and resilient database systems across on-premises and cloud environments for our customers.
  • Ensure data integrity and availability through proactive monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning to minimise downtime and meet service expectations.
  • Apply patches, manage upgrades, and maintain database security, backups, and recovery processes in line with operational and compliance standards.
  • Streamline administrative tasks using automation and scripting, improving reliability, repeatability, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customers to interpret technical requirements and deliver database solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Contribute to project delivery by assisting in database design, data migrations, and transition activities for new and existing customer environments.
  • Document database configurations, standard operating procedures, and performance metrics to support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in after-hours support and planned maintenance activities to ensure minimal service disruption and rapid incident resolution.

Essential Experience

  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience supporting and managing relational database platforms in production environments (Oracle)
  • Strong experience designing and maintaining database schemas, tables, stored procedures, indexes, and access controls.
  • Proven ability to manage backup and recovery operations, including point-in-time recovery and corruption repair.
  • Hands-on experience installing patches, performing version upgrades, and implementing database-level security and encryption.
  • Demonstrated scripting skills (e.g. PowerShell, Bash, or any database language) to automate routine database administration tasks.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-aligned service operations, including incident, change, and problem management processes.
  • Australian citizen or Permanent resident only
