In this role, you'll:
perform construction, maintenance, repairs and modifications of complex intelligent traffic systems equipment and tunnel power and life safety equipment in accordance with current specifications and instructions.

The Traffic Signals Technician will also be responsible for:

• Performing preventative maintenance and functional checks of intelligent traffic systems and associated equipment as per the tasks in the checklist to prevent frequent failures and faults and ensure the smooth operation of traffic control systems at intersections, through tunnels and on open road.

• Repairing faults and accident damage as they occur to ensure smooth operation of intelligent traffic systems.

• Undertaking programmed work to ensure that TfNSW specifications are met, and client satisfaction is maintained.

• Leading staff and subcontractors at site to ensure that work is performed in a safe and timely manner. Adhering to TfNSW specifications to ensure compliance with standards while carrying out minor construction or reconstruction of intelligent traffic systems and tunnel power and life safety equipment. 

• Assisting the Traffic Systems Supervisor and carry out other duties associated with traffic systems maintenance as required as well as provide support to the team.

This is an ongoing full-time role located at Russell Vale.

TfNSW take the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously therefore to be eligible for this role it is a requirement that you must reside within 70 kms driving distance from the Russell Vale Depot.

About you
You are a qualified Electrical Contractor with a current qualified Electrical Contractor Licence.

You have experience in the calibration or testing of electronic equipment and experience in troubleshooting the root cause of faults.

You have experience in responding to high level technical requests, ensuring all faults are promptly identified and repaired within a reasonable time frame to minimise traffic disruption to the general public.
 
You will act as an escalation point for the team, so you need to be an effective communicator who can provide guidance, direction and support to your colleagues, sharing information with them and providing input on issues.
 
You possess a current and valid Australian motor vehicle driver license and willingness to work outside normal working hours and to travel on occasions.

The Section provides a 24-hour emergency response and the successful applicant will be required to undertake rostered callout duties to any site to repair faults within specified response times (currently minimum two hours).

Any experience with the use of the Asset Vision system will be highly regarded.
