We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Senior Project Officer (Identified) to join the team at the Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre. As a newly established multi-campus setting, Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre presents a unique opportunity to lead meaningful work focused on improving outcomes and closing the gap for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The centre plays a crucial role in the community by providing young people in detention with access to quality education, helping them build the knowledge, skills, and values needed to make positive, informed choices. Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre supports both male and female students from across Queensland who are on remand or serving custodial sentences, offering a pathway to re-engage with learning and create brighter futures.

Step Into Your Next Chapter:

  • Collaborate with education, transition, student wellbeing, and Vocational Training Queensland teams to enhance community and family engagement, ensuring strong partnerships and support networks for students.
  • Support the transition of a targeted caseload of First Nations students (up to 15 students from any region), helping them succeed in school and return confidently to community.
  • Provide cultural support for students in detention, including in-class and outreach assistance, delivering engaging programs, and fostering students' personal growth, pride, and cultural identity.
  • Build the cultural capability of staff by offering guidance, advice, and insights to strengthen cultural understanding across the school.
