The opportunity

Our client is a community safety focused federal government agency. They have an exciting opportunity available for multiple Senior Systems Administrators to support the delivery of new capabilities.

These will be 12-month initial contracts with further 12-month extensions possible, offering open market hourly rates. Based in the CBD this will support 2 days from home, 3 on site.

We are seeking candidates with the following technology stacks:

Role 1:

  • Kubernetes (Red Hat Openshift)
  • Linux Systems (Red Hat and Ubuntu)
  • Elasticsearch
  • Hadoop MapReduce, HDFS
  • SQL databases
  • System Monitoring (e.g. Prometheus & Grafana)
  • S3 Storage

Role 2:

  • Windows Active Directory - Group Policy, DHCP, DNS, WSUS
  • Windows Operating System Support - Windows 10, 11 and Windows Server 2016, 2022
  • Citrix and Citrix Workspace
  • SQL databases
  • System Monitoring

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support the deployment of complex technical systems and solutions on existing IT Infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with other IT disciplines within the Agency to deploy and maintain bespoke solutions.
  • Follow best practises for maintaining and enhancing bespoke solutions on IT Infrastructure.
  • Leverage your subject-matter expertise to advise technical leadership on technical architecture and solutions.

About you

  • Experience in System software administration, systems integration and build, software configuration, infrastructure operations, identity and access management, deployment, and data management.

Have an understanding or the ability to learn the following technologies:

  • Infrastructure as Code management and tracking (Git, GitLab)
  • Virtualisation Technologies (VMware, vSphere)
  • Web servers (e.g nginx)
  • NoSQL databases (e.g Apache Cassandra)
  • Message queues/event streaming (e.g. Apache Kafka)

Experience in the following principles/methodologies:

  • Cyber Security Practices (e.g Australian Government Information Security Manual, Essential
  • Issue tracking and collaboration tools (Git, GitLab, ServiceNow)
  • Infrastructure as Code management and tracking (Git, GitLab)
  • Cloud Infrastructure (Azure, AWS, Google, etc)
