Candidates must be willing to relocate to Kuala Lumpur in 2026 as this is mandatory for the role.

Position Summary

The Product Development Specialist is a member of the product development team that is responsible for the development and execution of new products. The Product Specialist will learn to coordinate the development process working with the Product and Sourcing manager, designers, product managers, and suppliers in taking product from the concept stage to production.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development and Design

  • Collaborate with product team and category team to develop and design new products

  • Drive innovation through conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging trends and opportunities.

  • Work with suppliers on the development of samples and lead quality reviews of pre-production prototypes.

  • Facilitate quality testing for new products to local markets regulations and standards

Sourcing and Costing

  • Identify and onboard new suppliers while cross-sourcing existing products

  • Negotiate product pricing, materials and final packaging details with suppliers

  • Create cost analysis to understand baseline target cost relative to margin requirements at targeted retail price

  • Completing costings to suggest sell prices and RRPs to sales team

Project Management

  • Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring timely completion of all phases.

  • Collaborate with Product Launch team on the launch of new products

  • Manage timelines for range tenders with the sales team, ensuring they are completed on time as requested by retail partners

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Product Development, Engineering, Business, Marketing and Sales or related field.

  • 2 years' experience in product development or product management ideally within the hardware industry.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.

  • Proficiency in project management

  • Experience with international vendor research and procurement

  • Fluent in Microsoft Office with strong data entry and organizational skills.

Travel

  • The position requires traveling to visit suppliers to review samples

  • Attending trade fairs regionally in Asia

  • The role requires between 4 to 8 weeks of travel per annum
