About the Role

We're looking for a detail-oriented and commercially minded Product Developer to join our growing team. In this role, you'll manage the end-to-end development of our soft goods range — from concept to production — ensuring each product meets our standards for quality, cost, and innovation.

You'll work closely with our Product Design Manager and global suppliers to bring ideas to life, coordinating with factories in China and supporting the business to deliver products that perform beautifully and arrive on time.

What You'll Do

Product Development

  • Source materials and trims in collaboration with the Product Design Manager.
  • Create and manage detailed techpacks including specifications, construction, and materials.
  • Oversee the sample development process from first prototype to production-ready samples.
  • Evaluate and approve materials, trims, and construction techniques.
  • Conduct functional and quality testing to ensure performance and compliance.

Supplier & Factory Management

  • Communicate daily with factories in China, ensuring clarity of requirements and timely delivery.
  • Review and approve samples across development stages.
  • Negotiate costings with suppliers to meet margin targets.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all products meet brand standards and international compliance requirements.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to maintain robust testing protocols.
  • Identify and resolve any technical or quality issues during development.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with design, planning, and merchandising to align with seasonal range plans.
  • Maintain clear communication on product status, risks, and timelines.
  • Support the buying team with SKU creation, labelling, and production handover.

About You

  • Strong attention to detail and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Experienced in managing multiple projects and tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative, organised, and confident in supplier communication.
  • Commercially minded with a clear understanding of cost vs quality balance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office; experience with PLM systems is a plus.
  • Mandarin language skills (verbal or written) highly regarded.
  • Understanding of sustainability standards in product development preferred.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience in product development, preferably within soft goods, accessories, or luggage.
  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in Product Design, Industrial Design, Fashion, or a related field.
