About The Role

As a senior leader reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for proactively seeking & identifying opportunities to position the business for growth, with the ability to approach problem solving through a forward focussed, owner's mindset.

In this largely autonomous role, your responsibilities will include:

  • managing all elements of ELK's Financial and Accounting functions across local and international business operations including Financial Reporting, Commercial Finance, Payroll and Treasury activities
  • preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements & board packs,
  • preparation of the annual budget and regular forecasts,
  • commercial analysis and supporting the CEO, Chief Operating Officer (COO) and wider business with advice and analysis to assist with the achievement of business strategy
  • Leading a capable, stable & experienced team of 2 with the support of an outsourced accounting function

This is a hands-on role, responsible for balancing the day to day, business as usual finance functions of a growing business operating across 3 channels to market (online, retail & wholesale) with forward focussed business strategy.

What We'll Love About You

You have a love for finance, accounting & business concepts. You have a natural talent for numbers and commercial analysis, coupled with a strong understanding of multi-channel fashion retailing across bricks and mortar retail, wholesale and online environments gained in (ideally) a similar, medium sized business. You may have owned or run your own small business in the past and come accompanied with a strong understanding of the need to be future focussed and think creatively to balance risk and reward.

Who are you?

You are a perfect match with:

  • At least 7+ years' experience in a senior finance and accounting role
  • Bachelors or Masters qualifications in Finance or Accounting
  • Professional accounting qualification (CA or CPA)
  • Experience in a similar, medium sized business with exposure to multi-channel retail environment (encompassing bricks and mortar retail, online and wholesale) – fashion and inventory experience highly regarded
  • Experience managing teams responsible for accounts payable, receivable and payroll
  • Digitally native with intermediate to advanced software skills, including Excel and other accounting packages (MYOB preferred)
