Commercial Finance Business Partner

The Opportunity:

The Commercial Finance Business Partner plays a key role in supporting data-driven decision-making across the business through insightful financial analysis, planning, and reporting. Based in Melbourne and reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance, this role partners closely with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to provide financial insights that drive performance in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

This role is ideal for a commercially minded finance professional who thrives on business partnering, has strong analytical capabilities, and enjoys working cross-functionally to improve outcomes in a consumer-focused, dynamic business.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Partnering & Commercial Support

• Partner with Sales, Marketing, and other commercial teams to provide financial insights and analysis that drive profitable growth.
• Support pricing decisions, promotions, customer investment analysis, and channel performance reviews.
• Assist with trade spend analysis, margin management, and ROI on commercial initiatives.

Financial Planning & Forecasting

• Contribute to the development of the annual budget, rolling forecasts, and long-range plans.
• Monitor and analyse performance against budget/forecast, highlighting key variances and underlying business drivers.
• Support scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis for commercial decision-making.

Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare and deliver accurate, timely, and insightful weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for commercial stakeholders.
• Analyse customer and product profitability, category trends, and market dynamics.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings, revenue optimisation, and margin improvement.
• Maintain and update treasury policies, procedures, and documentation in line with industry best practice and regulatory expectations.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

• Support finance and business transformation projects, including process improvements and system enhancements.
• Assist in the implementation and optimisation of BI tools and reporting dashboards.
• Participate in cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving commercial performance and operational efficiency.

The successful candidate will have:

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related field; CA/CPA qualified or working towards qualification preferred.
• 2–5 years of experience in commercial finance, FP&A, or management accounting, ideally in the FMCG or consumer goods sector.
• Strong Excel and financial modelling skills; experience with ERP and BI tools (e.g. SAP, TM1, Power BI) is advantageous.
• Solid understanding of P&L management, margin drivers, and commercial metrics.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with multiple priorities.
