Supply Chain Analyst – Position Description
Pay: AU$80,000 – AU$90,000.00 per year
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Work Location: In person at Haymarket
About the Role:
Thai Kee IGA is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Supply Chain Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be pivotal in optimising our supply chain processes, ensuring efficiency, and minimising disruptions. You will analyse our end-to-end supply chain, from inventory management to product delivery, and recommend data-driven improvements.
There is a great deal of autonomy in this role, so applicants need to be organised, performance driven and ready to make an impact.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled analyst to make a significant impact on our operational success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitored and managed stock levels across all supermarket departments [e.g., fresh produce, meat, seafood, dry goods, frozen, beverages], ensuring shelves were adequately supplied while minimising overstocking and wastage.
- Analysed sales patterns and seasonal demand [insert: e.g., peak sales periods for fruits and vegetables, high turnover grocery items] to prepare accurate purchasing forecasts and improve ordering efficiency.
- Prepared detailed inventory and performance reports [insert: e.g., stock variance in frozen vs. dry goods, shrinkage rates in fresh produce], recommending corrective measures to maintain accurate stock control.
- Coordinated supplier relationships and purchasing activities, liaising with wholesalers and distributors [insert: e.g., local fruit and vegetable markets, seafood suppliers, dry goods distributors] to ensure timely delivery and consistent product availability.
- Evaluated supplier reliability and delivery performance [insert categories: e.g., late deliveries of produce, inconsistent frozen product quality], developing alternative sourcing options to reduce supply risks.
- Implemented improvements in ordering processes, warehouse handling, and stock rotation practices [insert categories: e.g., FIFO for fresh produce, storage optimisation for frozen goods] to increase efficiency and reduce spoilage.
- Managed local stock transfers and balancing goods between Haymarket and Meadowbank outlet to optimise overall supermarket inventory.
- Collaborated with finance and operations teams to reconcile purchase orders, supplier invoices, and stock records [insert categories: e.g., bulk grocery purchases, seasonal fruit imports], ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Provided support and mentoring to team members in inventory control, ordering systems, and supplier coordination [insert categories: e.g., training staff on handling perishable goods vs. dry goods].
Skills and Experience Required:
· Proven experience in a supply chain, logistics, or data analysis role.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a talent for working with large datasets.
· Experience with inventory management systems and supply chain software. World smart, smart retail system experience preferred.
· Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, MYOB, SQL).
· Excellent communication and report-writing skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
· A proactive mindset with the ability to develop strategies and see projects through to implementation.
· Relevant qualifications in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field are highly regarded.
· Experience working with Chinese and south east Asian products preferred.
