About the Role

The Business Development Manager drives revenue growth by acquiring new clients—especially within state government—and expanding IT service offerings. Leading the Sales team, the BDM builds strong client relationships, manages proposals and pipelines, and ensures delivery aligns with business goals. The role combines strategic planning, team leadership, and hands-on sales execution to grow market presence and profitability.

Please note that this is an on-site role based in either Sydney, Perth or Melbourne. Candidates from all these locations are invited to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategies to acquire new clients, with a focus on state government agencies.
  • ssist in the design, development, and commissioning of enterprise-grade and mobile applications.
  • Prepare proposals, pricing models, and quotes tailored to customer requirements; maintain a robust sales pipeline.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
  • Set and manage client expectations, ensuring alignment with project timelines and deliverables.
  • Drive revenue growth and consistently exceed sales targets.
  • Formulate and implement growth strategies and business plans that balance profitability with customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct market research to identify new opportunities, including emerging markets, partnerships, and service offerings.
  • Organise and lead meetings with prospective clients to understand their needs and present tailored solutions.
  • Deliver exceptional after-sales support and gather client feedback to improve service delivery.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor business development staff, fostering a high-performance sales culture.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the organisation's products, services, and competitive positioning within the IT industry.
  • Draft and manage sales contracts and business proposals in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Analyse business strengths, customer needs, and improvement opportunities to inform accurate sales forecasting.
  • Support and motivate the Sales team to achieve KPIs and performance goals.
  • Represent the organisation at industry conferences and events to build partnerships and stay informed on trends.
  • Maintain accurate records of all sales-related documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Technical team to enhance product visibility and marketability.
  • Lead negotiations with stakeholders to secure favourable outcomes.

About the Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate is a confident and persuasive communicator with a passion for sales and customer engagement. With strong listening skills and a customer-first mindset, they can quickly build rapport, identify needs, and present compelling solutions that drive conversions. The successful candidate will be tech-savvy, adaptable, and eager to lead a dynamic sales team, and will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Applications, or a related field.
  • Proven success in selling IT solutions and services.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business planning capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional networks within the local market.
  • Experience in responding to tenders and crafting compelling proposals.
  • Familiarity with software development processes and terminology.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in sales forecasting and pipeline management.
  • Negotiation and stakeholder engagement expertise.
  • High level of organisation and attention to detail.
