Greater Melbourne Area, Australia Village Entertainment Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

Company Description

Village Cinemas has been providing quality entertainment for Australian families since 1954, starting with one of the country's first drive-in cinemas. Are you an HR professional who thrives in fast-paced, people-first environments? Village Cinemas is seeking a Human Resources Officer for a 12 month contract role, to coach and support our guest-facing leaders in managing all people matters including recruitment, performance and development, confidently, compliantly, and with care.

Why This Role?

This role offers the opportunity to:

  • Make a real impact by helping site leaders take ownership of people decisions and strengthen team performance.
  • Solve real challenges — guide leaders through employee relations, performance, and conduct issues in line with policy and legislation.
  • Talent Acquisition - Recruiting and onboarding for our site teams to deliver exceptional guest experience at all times.
  • Coach as you go — build capability through practical, real-time support rather than formal training.
  • Grow your career in a dynamic, multi-site business where every day brings variety and purpose.
  • Join a values-led team in a proudly Australian-owned company that puts people and guest experience first.
  • This is a site-based role with one day per week at the Support Office.

As the Human Resources Officer, you will:

  • Partner with site leaders to manage and resolve people issues, from performance and conduct to engagement and motivation.
  • Build leader capability by guiding managers through the "how" and "why" of people processes ensuring confident, compliant, and consistent action.
  • Provide trusted HR advice aligned with the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards, and our company policy.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding, ensuring leaders are confident in selecting and setting up great talent.
  • Track trends and insights in ER, turnover, and capability to identify where extra support is needed.
  • Promote positive workplace culture, encouraging early intervention and proactive problem-solving.

About You

We're looking for someone who brings:

  • Experience: 3+ years in HR, ideally in a business partnering or advisory capacity within a multi-site and service-driven environment.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of employment legislation, compliance, and best practice people management.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, coaching, and conflict resolution. You simplify complexity and build confidence in others.
  • Mindset: Hands-on, approachable, and solution-focused. You guide, support, and empower leaders to act.
  • Values: You live our Service Values:
    Welcome, Deliver, Engage, Anticipate, Impress
    every day.
