About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive junior Accounts and Payroll Officer to join our Finance Team on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an entry-level opportunity ideal for someone looking to build their experience in finance and payroll. In this role, you will support the day-to-day financial operations by assisting with payroll reconciliation, superannuation compliance, and monthly bookkeeping.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts:
- Assist the Senior Accountant in daily finance operations
- Support month-end close, including processing accruals and verifying expense completeness
- Calculate and record amortisation, depreciation, and prepayments
- Assist departments in reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies
Payroll:
- Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts (e.g. PAYG, superannuation payable, payroll clearing)
- Maintain accurate superannuation records in the payroll system
- Follow up on bounced superannuation payments to ensure timely resolution
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with superannuation obligations
General:
- Provide ad hoc financial support as requested by management
- Assist with continuous improvement of financial processes across the institution

Qualifications & Experience
- Qualifications in Accounting or equivalent experience in bookkeeping, payroll, and accruals
- At least 1-2 years of experience in a similar finance role
- Sound understanding of accounting principles and superannuation compliance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Experience entering journals and reconciling general ledger accounts
