Your role
The role of a Finance Support Officer is critical and essential for the Business Operations' Finance team to maintain and upkeep core procure-to-pay validations, accounts payable processing, and financial data integrity checks. The role is responsible for validating and processing payments, providing support to business team around purchase requisitions, perform exception checking and reporting, support transactional reconciliations, assist in vendor data management, and maintain accurate financial records in financial systems.
What you'll do
As the Finance Support Officer, you will be responsible for:
Accurately review, maintain and coordinate accounting and financial information to contribute to robust and consistent reporting to comply with Department objectives, government policy, accounting standards and statutory requirements.
Provide administrative assistance determined by the team priorities and participate in the development of management reporting systems and accounting methods to improve existing procedures and the communication of financial information.
- Validate and support financial transactions, including vendor invoice processing, requisition checks and delegated payment approvals, ensuring compliance with policy and timely resolution of business enquiries.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and service delivery divisions to exchange information, obtain cooperation and support and provide financial information.
What we're looking for
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:
- Understanding of accounting, financial and payable procedures and methodologies.
- Knowledge of the Australian Accounting Standards, Treasury Directions and the Public Finance and Audit Act.
- Demonstrated capability in collaboration, information presentation and reporting.
- Attention to detail
- Strong work ethic and problem solver
