The Team
Phriendly Phishing is an Australian-based company who provide security awareness and phishing simulation training solutions. We teach employees how to identify and respond to common, costly and difficult to detect security threats like:
- Phishing
- Spear-phishing
- Ransomware
- Malware and scams
Our training programs are measurable, scalable and can be used by anyone in any organisation, regardless of technical expertise.
How you will make an impact
Reporting into the Operations and Commercial Director, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for the management of Phriendly Phishing's finance and accounting activities including budgeting, payroll and working capital management.
This is a hands-on role that requires someone with a can-do attitude, who is willing to be involved in both transactional tasks and strategic initiatives. The success of this key role will enable Phriendly Phishing to achieve its commercial and organisation objectives with a high degree of compliance.
Day to day you will:
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Lead and own the month end reporting process (end to end), working closely with other stakeholders to ensure an efficient month end process.Ownership of the monthly management and board packs and provide insightful analysis to enable practical decisions.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and subledgers, ensuring that all reconciliations are prepared on a timely basis.
- Maintain the chart of accounts and integrity of master data for all financial cycles
- Provide oversight to the customer operations/invoicing function, ensuring billings are accurate and complete.
- Timely review of the work performed by the invoicing team and ensuring any anomalies are identified and understood.
- Working capital management (cash, accounts receivables and accounts payables).
- Develop, maintain and improve internal processes and procedures.
- Manage accounting and finance-related technology from Xero to subscription management tool (Chargebee).
Budgeting and Commercial Finance
- Prepare and present long term financial forecasts and budgets in relation to developing future strategies for the business.
- Compile and present information on costs and margin contribution by product and service offering.
- Leverage existing reporting tools to identify product performance and profitability.
- Ensure the accuracy of financial and SaaS metric data in revenue management tool (Chargebee).
- Carry out extensive scenario modeling to drive strategic decisions on topics ranging from pricing to cash impact from changes to payment terms, product development investment ROI or changes in EBITDA based on different department spend/revenue strategies.
- Demonstrate an understanding of revenue recognition principles and articulate differences between revenue recognised and key metrics such as ARR and MRR.
- Coach non-finance client executives on strategic SaaS KPIs (in Chargebee) usage and management of their respective department's budget.
- Identify areas to improve business efficiencies and maximise profitability.
Payroll & Statutory obligations
- Ensure timely processing of payroll for review and sign off by executive management.
- Maintain the integrity of the payroll master data ensuring that any changes are appropriately authorised.
- Timely lodgement and payment of superannuation obligations.
Tax Compliance
- Oversee BAS, Payroll Tax, FBT, workers compensation and any R&D claims.
- Tax effect accounting.
- Liaise with external advisers to ensure timely lodgement of returns.
Skills & Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance or directly related field.
- Membership of professional accounting and/or financial bodies mandatory.
- At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preference to experience in SaaS organisation.
- Sound knowledge of organisational accounting procedures including exposure to activities such as general accounting, financial analysis and reporting.
- Experience managing payroll processes.
- Experience in tools such as Chargebee, Xero and Salesforce.
- Experience in building budgeting and forecasting models for SaaS organisations.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of subscription revenue models.
- Well-developed prioritisation and time management skills, and ability to work to deadlines.
