Head Of Product

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia HotDoc Full time

Welcome to HotDoc

Founded in Melbourne, Australia in 2012, HotDoc is Australia's largest patient engagement platform with over 8 million app downloads in Australia.

The past 18 months have seen massive growth for our business, our team, and our community. We now work with over 21,000 practitioners around Australia, including GPs, Allied Health, Dental Practices, Specialists, and Optometrists.

We have ambitious goals to improve the healthcare experience for everyone in Australia with exceptional patient journeys, and we're looking for extraordinary individuals to help us get there.

Role Purpose & Context

At HotDoc, our mission is to enable the best possible patient experience for everyone in Australia. The Head of Product reports to the Chief Customer and Product Officer and leads the team who make the end-to-end product journey possible. From early discovery through to launch and ongoing optimisation, you'll help to define and execute a year long product vision, ensuring our portfolio delivers against both customer needs and HotDoc's strategic goals.

Unique value of the role

This role is where vision meets execution. Unlike a pure strategist or an individual contributor, the Head of Product both sets the direction and builds the engine that delivers it. Our ideal candidate is not afraid to make ambiguous kernels of a strategy clearer, while also getting their hands dirty in Metabase or Figma.

You'll bridge executive ambition with delivery reality, align teams around shared goals, and champion decisions grounded in research, data and customer impact.

You'll also explore emerging technologies, think generative AI to new payment rails, and embed the frameworks, rhythms and metrics that drive focus and continuous improvement. In short, you'll ensure HotDoc ships the right products, with speed, quality, and measurable impact

Why join HotDoc?

HotDoc's product function is at an inflection point. The foundations are in place, but we need someone to rebuild confidence, maturity and commercial sharpness in how we plan, deliver and measure product work.

This is a chance to lead a small but high-impact team of about 5-6 individuals, through a period of renewal. You'll have the autonomy to reset our operating rhythm, shape the product vision for FY27 and beyond, and help drive growth across new verticals.

You'll thrive here if you're excited by the challenge of building systems that scale, influencing a passionate founder based C-suite and leaving a tangible mark on how Product operates.

What will you be doing?

  • Coach and develop a talented product team, fostering ownership, learning and measurable outcomes
  • Help define and evolve a bold 1 year product vision aligned with our mission and company OKRs.
  • Build and maintain an outcome-driven roadmap that balances immediate priorities with long-term strategy.
  • Help lead discovery and research to deeply understand clinic and patient needs, turning insights into high-impact initiatives.
  • Partner with other leaders in the business to ensure our products meet their adoption and utilisation targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement through modern discovery, measurement and innovation practices.

What you must have to apply for this role

  • 6+ years in product management within a B2B SaaS organisation, with 2+ years in a leadership role
  • Proven track record of defining and scaling successful product portfolios from concept to market impact
  • Strong commercial and analytical mindset, with confidence in using data and financial systems
  • Excellent communication skills across technical and executive audiences
  • Experience recruiting, developing, and retaining high-performing product teams
  • Hands-on familiarity with modern discovery techniques (e.g. opportunity solution trees)
  • Experience working directly with C-suite and Boards on technology-driven growth initiatives
  • (Bonus nice to have) Domain expertise in healthcare, payments, or generative AI

You're just the person we're looking for if you can demonstrate that

  • A desire to contribute to positive change in the Australian healthcare patient experience.
  • Strong sense of empathy and a commitment to doing the right thing by others.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving, with a willingness to take ownership and see solutions through to completion.
  • Confidence to challenge the status quo and advocate for thoughtful, constructive change.
  • Genuine passion for technology, particularly in health IT and SaaS, with an interest in leveraging it for meaningful impact.

What do our employees love about working for HotDoc?

  • Our people are at the heart of HotDoc. We are an employee first company, and recognise that we can't provide a great patient experience if we don't look out for our employees.
  • HotDoc staff enjoy the flexibility to work from home and from our Melbourne HQ.
  • Access to our comprehensive Health & Wellbeing Program
  • A generous Learning and Development Budget
  • Parental leave benefits program including paid baby sleep school, first aid courses and EAP for primary and secondary care givers
  • Company wide events & activities at our HQ in Melbourne for all remote and hybrid staff to attend several times a year
  • In office collaboration days where our teams participate in workshops and planning
  • Private and confidential EAP program for all employees from day one
  • In house Career and Strengths Coaching tailored specifically to every employee

Please note, we ask that all local staff attend our Melbourne HQ once a week to better build relationships, get to know their teams and to meet the other members of staff they might not have the opportunity to during a normal working day. If this is not possible please ensure you speak to the hiring manager during the recruitment process so we can assist with flexible working considerations if required.

HotDoc is a place where you can be you.

HotDoc prides itself in being an inclusive and diverse workplace; in fact, we celebrate it. If there are any alternative considerations you might require to perform this role or if there is anything we can do to assist you in the application process please let us know. We will do our best to make this a great experience for you.
