We are currently seeking applications for a Taxation Officer, to join RevenueSA, Taxation Services at The Department of Treasury & Finance for a period of up to 12 months

Remuneration: ASO3 – Salary Range ($ $72 033 p.a.).

About the opportunity:

The Taxation Officer contributes to the achievement of RevenueSA's taxation objectives, particularly through the review of applications and requests for advice, making assessments and providing timely and accurate payroll tax and stamp duty returns based advice both internally and externally to professional/taxpayer representation groups and taxpayers regarding their obligations under relevant State taxation legislation.

The Taxation Officer is required to interpret payroll tax and stamp duty returns based legislation, undertake technical assessments, review of exemption applications and have working knowledge of RevenueSA Online. Also, to undertake other duties as directed; primarily related to the administration of payroll tax and stamp duty returns based matters.

The successful applicant should be able to effectively resolve conflict situations, communicate well with staff, taxpayers and taxpayer representatives.

The Taxation Officer reports to the Manager, Taxation Services.

About you

The position requires sound State taxation knowledge with particular experience and knowledge with payroll tax and stamp duty returns based being preferred. The position is the first level of escalation from RevenueSA's communication centre for technical payroll tax and stamp duty returns based matters. Training and support will be provided to the successful applicant.

To be successful you will be:

  • Experienced in the development, implementation and evaluation of best practice policies, procedures, strategies and/or initiatives.
  • Have the ability to work well in a team environment whilst also having the ability to work independently, under limited direction.
  • Ability to work under high pressure whilst providing technical and professional services
  • A strong understanding of the payroll tax and stamp duty returns based legislation.
