ABOUT THE ROLE:

You will be supporting individuals with disability in their own homes, developing the clients' daily living skills, providing community access, assisting with medication, supporting clients with complex needs, personal care, domestic, and other duties. This is not an entry level position, experience is essential. ABCARE Disability Support do not provide SIL service – our service is personalised in home assistance along with community access.

Note: This position may require heavy lifting and/or hoisting. Applicants need to be physically fit to perform these duties. Successful applicants may be required to complete a pre-employment medical assessment.

ABCARE Disability Support provides service in Newcastle, parts of Cessnock, Maitland, Lake Macquarie. Current positions are primarily Newcastle based.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Proven experience working as a disability support practitioner or aged care/nursing
  • NDIS Worker Screening
  • Completion of all mandatory online NDIS modules
  • Working with Children Check
  • Recent national police check (within the past 3 months) or willingness to obtain
  • Valid Senior First Aid certificate and CPR
  • NSW drivers licence with your own registered and insured vehicle
  • Willingness to provide certified driving history from Service NSW if required
  • Individual who is flexible and be able to work efficiently on a 1:1 and 2:1 capacity
  • Manual handling experience: supporting people who have limited mobility
  • Administering medications
  • Experience in providing intensive personal care duties
  • Certificate III or higher in Disability, Individual Support or Aged Care OR be entering the second year into your higher qualification in a relevant field
  • Available to work flexibly across a 24/7 rotating roster, including inactive and active overnight shifts and split shifts when required
  • Demonstrated experience supporting clients in a way that respects their rights, dignity, values, beliefs, and personal goals
  • Ability to communicate effectively resulting in a clear understanding of the client's needs
  • Very clear English communication skills – written and verbal
  • Unrestricted work rights
