Senior ICT Service Operations Officers
to support a
federal government program
focused on uplifting digital systems within scientific and technical environments.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to national innovation by modernising workflows, improving data management practices, and ensuring the secure performance of specialised ICT networks that underpin laboratory operations.

About the Opportunity

As a
Senior ICT Service Operations Officer
, you'll bridge the gap between technical laboratory operations and enterprise ICT systems. Working closely with scientists, technicians, and IT professionals, you'll design and implement digital solutions that enhance system reliability, data flow efficiency, and user experience.

You'll operate under broad direction, supporting both business change management and technical implementation while ensuring ICT operations meet high standards of performance, security, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with laboratory and ICT teams to develop and implement digital work practices and procedures.
  • Map data flows and storage to build a clear understanding of current-state information management.
  • Provide governance reporting and updates on solution adoption, challenges, and progress.
  • Maintain and update software and licence registers to support procurement planning and compliance.
  • Work with internal teams and vendors to ensure sustainable, secure, and efficient ICT operations.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum
    3 years' experience
    supporting IT enhancement or infrastructure projects (e.g. workflow optimisation, data mapping, or system modernisation).
  • Strong
    analytical, problem-solving, and organisational
    abilities, with demonstrated autonomy and initiative.
  • Proven experience
    collaborating and influencing
    across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent
    communication and documentation
    skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience supporting ICT operations in
    scientific or technical environments
    .
  • Active Baseline Security Clearance
    (mandatory).

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in
    Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Engineering, or ICT
    .
  • Knowledge in
    Software Development, Cyber Security, or Data Analysis
    .
  • Familiarity with
    laboratory or scientific accreditation standards
    (e.g. TGA, NATA).
