About the team:

As part of the Commonwealth-funded Australian Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program (ACNNP), Cancer Council will deliver a national cancer navigation service, expanding our existing cancer information and support service , to include new digital navigation and support offerings. The vision of the service is to connect, inform and empower people impacted by cancer through the provision of tailored assistance with connecting people to appropriate support services, delivering evidence-based information, and providing emotional support. One of the key enablers of this new service is the new National Navigation Service Directory.

The National Navigation Service Directory will provide a centralised, up-to-date repository of supportive care services, facilitating quick and efficient identification and referral of individuals to Cancer Council, ACNNP partners, and non-ACNNP organisations. Information in the Service Directory will be used by staff for ready access to up-to-date information about available services, and for a public-facing service finder, to help people affected by cancer self-navigate to relevant support services.

The role will be based at Cancer Council NSW, within the Cancer Information and Support Services (CISS) Division. CISS aims to empower and support people affected by cancer, so that no one needs to face cancer alone. This Division assists people as they navigate the can

About the role:

Working closely with the CCNSW Project Manager National Navigation, the Manager Cancer Information, and the Manager Cancer Support and Navigation, this role will ensure the successful delivery of the Service Directory, and staff and public facing service finders.

This position is offered as a full-time, 19-month fixed-term contract, with an anticipated end date of June 2027.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Lead the delivery of service directory/service finder project milestones, ensuring alignment with project timelines and strategic objectives.
  • Research and develop high quality content for the Service Directory, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with the Service Directory Management Framework, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders as required, for example with the Managers and the National Quality and Service Reporting team.
  • Work with Technology Project Managers and developers to ensure service finders build aligns with agreed UX design and functionality and meets business needs.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing plan and execution with wide range of stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver training and resource for staff to ensure effective uptake and utilisation of the new Service Finder. Provide ongoing support and guidance to facilitate change management, working alongside the National Navigation change manager, to maximise adoption across the Cancer Navigation Service.
  • Establish data and analytics metrics, as agreed with National Navigation Quality Lead and CCNSW Managers.
  • Use data insights and user feedback to inform iterative improvements to the Service Directory
  • Undertake the ongoing management of the Service Directory, including regular content review, updates, and quality assurance.
  • Assess and process requests for new organisations to be added, ensuring alignment with the Framework.
  • Follow National Navigation governance processes to ensure appropriate CCNSW colleagues and Federation SMEs, stakeholders and decision-makers are consulted in a timely manner, and required approvals are in place at all stages.
  • Adhere to all CCNSW internal policies and external legislations, including but not limited to Privacy Act, PCI Compliance, Charitable Fundraising Act requirements, and financial controls.
  • Contribute to the documentation of internal policies and processes.

About you

Essential:

  • A tertiary qualification in communication, health promotion, public health or related discipline.
  • Experience in the development and management of service directories.
  • Strong research skills and demonstrated attention to detail in in entering, updating, and verifying information.
  • Experience in applying consistent data standards and quality assurance checks to maintain accuracy and reliability.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and effectively in plain English for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work with IT teams, including UX/UI/software developers, to integrate the directory with other digital systems, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability.
  • Experience in developing and delivering staff training and user acceptance testing.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, including demonstrated ability to meet set goals and targets, meet tight deadlines, manage contracts, and handle competing demands.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to build rapport and communicate complex ideas at all levels and audiences, both technically and non-technically.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with ability to adapt to changing project requirements and organisational priorities.
  • Experience using databases, and computer literacy in Microsoft office suite of programs - Outlook, Word, Excel.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in health care or cancer sector.
