We are looking for a microservices architect with deep technical expertise in designing and implementing large-scale, event-driven, real-time systems. The role requires strong hands-on knowledge of containerised platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift), messaging and event streaming (Kafka), API management (WSO2), distributed data (Couchbase), and traffic management (F5). The ideal candidate will have proven experience building high-throughput, low-latency, fault-tolerant architectures in mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and document microservices architectures, including service boundaries, data flows, integration patterns, and event-driven topologies.
- Define and enforce standards for containerised deployments on OpenShift/Kubernetes, including resource optimization, scaling policies, and resilience patterns.
- Architect event streaming solutions using Kafka (topics, partitions, schema registry, stream processing, event sourcing, replay).
- Implement robust API management and gateway patterns with WSO2, including authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and observability.
- Define caching and persistence strategies using Couchbase, ensuring low-latency reads/writes in distributed environments.
- Work with F5 load balancers to implement secure, high-performance ingress, service routing, and SSL/TLS offloading.
- Establish observability standards (metrics, logs, traces) using tools such as Prometheus, ELK/EFK, or OpenTelemetry.
- Collaborate with DevOps engineers to implement automated CI/CD pipelines, canary releases, and blue-green deployments.
- Mentor developers and engineers on microservices design principles, distributed systems patterns, and performance tuning.
- Perform technical reviews, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis of production issues.
Required Technical Skills
- Expert-level knowledge of microservices patterns (saga, CQRS, event sourcing, sidecar, service mesh).
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift, Helm, Operators, and cluster security.
- Advanced Kafka skills (producer/consumer tuning, partitioning strategies, Kafka Streams, Connect, schema evolution).
- Strong background in API management and gateway technologies (preferably WSO2) including OAuth2.0, JWT, and service mediation.
- Experience designing with NoSQL stores (Couchbase preferred) in distributed, high-availability clusters.
- Networking and traffic management knowledge (F5 LTM/GTM, ingress controllers, DNS).
- Strong understanding of resilience and fault tolerance techniques: circuit breakers, retries, bulkheads, idempotency.
- Proficiency in at least one backend programming language (C++, Go, or similar).
- Familiarity with service mesh (Istio, Linkerd) and distributed tracing (Jaeger, Zipkin).
Desirable
- Experience with real-time analytics and stream processing frameworks (Flink, Spark Streaming).
- Background in DevSecOps practices: security scanning, secrets management, policy-as-code.
- Knowledge of performance/load testing at scale (JMeter, Gatling).
