**The role**:
Our USL Digital team is seeking a passionate Technical Lead (microservices API) to take accountability for delivering holistic end to end solutions. Working in API squad, you will act as a Subject Matter Expert responsible for the leadership of one or more engineering scrum teams to plan, deliver and support service features that deliver customer value and/or mature service capability.

**The role and day to day will include the following**:

- API design, build and implementation
- Perform a senior role in a software development team
- Mentor and guide junior developers including code reviews
- Produce specifications and determining operational feasibility
- Perform hands-on design and implementation of best practice CI/CD
- Contribute to the design, development, and governance of the core APIs
- Develop and contribute to software verification plans and quality assurance procedures
- Document and maintain software functionality
- Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems
- Work with enterprise architects on the security, scalability, robustness attributes of the solution and get required endorsement
- Analyse bottlenecks in existing architectures and suggest solutions
- Work closely with solutions architects and cloud engineers to provide up to date and accurate technological advice to the engineering, development, and support team

**What you will bring**:

- Engineering background working in a large and complex technical setting
- Proven technical leadership experience with the ability to mentor and guide a team
- Solid experience in using software framework, technologies using Java 11, Java Spring boot, RESTFUL APIS, JSON, webservices, Kafka, data streaming
- Experience building microservices and APIs
- Experience designing technical and non-technical solutions to resolve a problem and meet the customer need
- Software Delivery technical skills such as CI/CD, Automated Deployments, Automated Testing, Build Servers, Software / Source Code Configuration Management
- Experience working with platform automation tools including RDS, AWS or Azure, Jenkins, GITHUB
- Workflow tools such as Jira or Rally
- Experience working in an agile and scrum environment
- Understand Integration patterns and recommend the best integration option based on the requirements
