Your role

As the
Solution Architect
for the Retail Electricity Domain, you will play a pivotal role in shaping SEC's energy market future. You'll provide end-to-end domain architecture across key initiatives, including customer experience, retail billing, digital engagement, CRM/CPQ, pricing, and market settlement.

In this role, you'll lead the development of SEC's Solution Architecture documentation, tools, and frameworks—ensuring alignment with our market objectives and enabling effective delivery across the business. Your primary focus will be on the Retail Electricity domain within SEC's Energy Markets business unit, where your expertise will help drive innovation, efficiency, and customer value.

What you will do:

• Solution Architecture
• Lead and own end-to-end solution designs within the Retail Electricity Domain, ensuring alignment to SEC's business and technology roadmap. Develop and maintain key architecture artifacts including solution documents, diagrams, decision logs, integration designs, data models, and the technical debt register.
• Event-Driven, Microservices & Security by Design
• Architect scalable, reusable event-driven and microservices-based solutions (Azure Integration Services: Service Bus, Functions, APIM), embedding security by design in partnership with the Governance and Security teams.
• Technology Governance & Standards
• Ensure all solutions align with SEC's architectural principles, patterns, and standards. Contribute to their ongoing development and present solutions to governance bodies for review and approval.
• Retail Market & Industry Integration
• Design solutions enabling seamless integration and compliance with AEMO systems (MSATS, B2B, EMMS), financial institutions, and other regulatory/market entities.
• Impact Assessment & Evaluation
• Perform detailed system impact assessments across functional and non-functional requirements. Evaluate solution/product options, dependencies, and constraints to deliver clear architectural recommendations.
• Strategic Partnering & Technology Roadmap
• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to capture future needs, co-create solutions, and inform SEC's technology roadmap through research, cost optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Who you are:

Must have

• Demonstrated experience in the Australian Energy and Utilities industry, particularly across customer retail operations (meter-to-cash, billing, CRM, customer engagement, pricing, settlements, and regulatory compliance).
• Strong architecture experience with an Australian energy utility or within the electricity distribution/transmission sector.
• Strong knowledge of data architectures, compute, network, cloud, and virtualisation with emphasis on SaaS and Azure; proven ability to design microservices, domain-driven designs, APIs, and event-driven integrations.
• Track record of leading end-to-end Retail Electricity Domain architecture and establishing fit-for-purpose architecture frameworks within small to medium organisations.
• Extensive cross-discipline expertise spanning business, application, infrastructure, and information/data architecture, including hands-on experience with data modelling and/or data visualisation.
• Proficiency in ArchiMate and similar modelling notations for solution design and documentation.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong collaboration, stakeholder influence and problem-solving skills, with the ability to deliver innovative solutions in fast-paced environments.

Highly Desirable

• Azure or AWS Software Certification.
• TOGAF 9 Certification.
