Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Heritage Now Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

This is the story of a passionate Archaeologist who, upon returning to corporate life after maternity leave, knew she needed to make a change.

It was no longer the workplace she knew or now needed.

Priorities had shifted.

It was then, back in 2019 – that 'Heritage Now' was born.

Tessa Boer Mah founded Heritage Now because she believed that boutique archaeology businesses deliver better outcomes for archaeology, than corporates.

She believed in doing ethical, professional and rewarding work....

And putting Archaeology first. Always.

Tessa wanted to instill the idea that we need to value the past, in order to create a better future – culminating in the name, Heritage Now.

"Valuing the past, creating the future."

Woodward Dawson is partnering with Heritage Now to appoint their Managing Director.

What's in it for you?

  • Are you ready to move into an influential leadership role; one at the helm of a growing, boutique Archaeological practice...?
  • Motivated by high impact work that reflects your contribution?
  • With the support of the company director, y
    ou
will be the driving force behind Heritage Now's direction, ensuring sustainable company success.
  • Enjoy rewards that reflect this success; including regular salary reviews and the potential to grow into a shareholding director capacity. The better you do, the better we do.

(And no, you don't need to take leave for training or have to pay for it....)

  • Access to all the resources you need to deliver projects.
  • Think state of the art project management systems, freeing up time to deliver quality archaeology, not time spent on task allocation...
  • You'll continue to drive a culture underpinned by mindfulness, health and happiness – achieving a balance between work and personal life.

In this role you will:

  • Lead, inspire and manage a team of archaeologists and support staff; providing guidance and mentorship across two NSW offices, as well as overseas team members.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the consultancy, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Assist project managers with the planning, execution and completion of archaeological projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Meet the financial and growth goals of the organisation.
  • Undertake business development activities including networking, client presentations and meetings and represent the company at industry conferences, seminars, and other events.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

  • Prepare and review project proposals, budgets and reports.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, seminars and other events.
  • Stay current with developments in the field of archaeology and integrate new methodologies and technologies into the consultancy's practices.
  • Collaborate with the human resources, IT & administration team, specialised skills development team, as well as mentors and external partners to support your role and the professional development of the team.

What type of person will this suit?

  • You
    love

  • You are confident in public speaking and professional representation.
  • You have sound negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • You have a minimum of 10 years of experience in archaeological consultancy, or a related field, with ~5 years in a leadership role.

  • You are effective at working under pressure, successfully managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proficient in project management software and other relevant tools.
