Position Overview:
Formosa Marine is expanding our team We're on the lookout for passionate and motivated individuals to join us in building some of Australia's toughest, most versatile aluminium boats. Whether you have welding experience but no formal qualifications, or you're a 2nd year welding apprentice eager to learn the art of welding Aluminium - we want to hear from you.
As a Welder at Formosa Marine, you'll work alongside experienced tradespeople and contribute to the construction of our high-performance aluminium boats. You'll be welding various components from hulls to structural frames with a strong focus on quality and safety. Just as important, we're looking for people who fit our culture — those with a can-do attitude who take pride in their work and are willing to support others to succeed in their roles. At Formosa Marine, teamwork is everything, and every contribution plays a part in delivering boats we're proud to stand behind.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and weld 3mm, 4mm, and 5mm aluminium components with a high level of precision.
- Perform TIG and MIG welding techniques to industry standards.
- Conduct quality control checks, inspecting welds for accuracy, structural integrity, and aesthetics.
- Operate cutting, grinding, and forming tools efficiently and safely.
- Collaborate with production team members to meet deadlines and quality expectations.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workspace, adhering to workplace health and safety standards.
- Train and mentor junior welders, assisting in their skill development.
- Troubleshoot fabrication and welding challenges to maintain efficiency and quality.
Key Requirements:
· Welding experience (aluminium preferred), even if unqualified.
· Enthusiastic 1st year apprentices are encouraged to apply.
· A keen interest in boatbuilding or fabrication.
· Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
· Must be an Australian resident and currently living in Australia.
· Punctuality, reliability, and a willingness to learn are a must.
