Purpose

The primary emphasis of this role centres around contributing to the achievement of City

Services, Community Connections, and the Community Centres objectives, aiming to

enhance their strategy and goals, and effectively execute the Community Centres

Community Program Officer role. Collaborating within the Community Centres team, this

position offers a platform for positive engagement and joint efforts.

delivering exceptional services and programs to our community, working diligently to

enhance residents' overall quality of life. Your role will involve a continuous, intelligent, and

efficient approach to your daily responsibilities, upholding the organisation's values and

purpose.

excellence in developing and supporting vibrant and thriving communities. Thereby

furthering council's commitment to improving the quality of life for all residents.

Key Deliverables

  • Plan and deliver community programs, projects and activities in the Community

Centres based on current and emerging community needs, and in accordance with

Council's community vision and funding obligations.

  • Plan and deliver Community Forums and community steering group meetings

representing the City of Marion and encouraging participation from a range of

community service providers.

  • Provide support to the Customer Experience team including customer service duties

ranging from but not limited to, telephone enquiries, venue hire tours, café sales, and

program booking administration as required.

  • Collect and record the required data to ensure that funding requirements are being

met.

  • Collate data and complete reporting when required.

  • Encourage and support other agencies and organisations to provide programs and

services to the City of Marion's Community Centres to meet community needs. This

includes maximising the use of the Community Centers and their resources.

  • Support casual program staff and volunteers in accordance with Council policies and

procedures and assist with the day to day running of the Community Centres where

necessary.

  • Monitor and report on program expenditure and variances as required.

  • Gather and analyse customer feedback to establish the value, satisfaction and

expectations for each service provided within your responsibility.

Person Specification

Essential criteria

  • Advanced communication skills both written and verbal.

  • At least five years' experience working within a human services / community

development / community services or related field.

  • Experience working in grant funded programs, including meeting grant guideline

requirements and reporting requirements.

  • Qualifications in Community Services or Community Development

Desirable criteria

  • Skills in project management, community development, program evaluation, and

supervising volunteers.

  • Effective communication including facilitation, community consultation, networking,

marketing, negotiation, and written skills.

  • Knowledge of Community Development principles, the Community Centres sector.

  • Commitment to highest quality customer service practices.

  • Local, state, and federal government roles in relation to the provision of community

services and associated funding.

  • Experience in planning, delivering, and evaluating complex community-based

programs and services, with the ability to contribute to the identification and

planning of strategic directions for community.

  • Working with people from diverse backgrounds and disciplines and working in

partnership with both government and non-government organisations.

Standard conditions

  • Satisfactory completion of a National Police Clearance (will be arranged by the City of

Marion)

  • Satisfactory completion of applicable Medical Assessment (will be arranged by the

City of Marion)

  • Must be either an Australian resident or possess the legal right to work in Australia,

with the ability to provide documentation of a valid work visa.

  • Comply with existing Work, Health and Safety legislation and regulation obligations and

apply "Think Safe Live Well" philosophy.

  • Embrace ethical and moral behavior and report any suspected instances of fraud

and/or corruption in accordance with Fraud and Corruption Management and the

Code of Conduct.

  • Adhere to the City of Marion Values.

Other conditions specific to the role

  • Must hold a valid, full (unrestricted) driver's license in accordance with South

Australian requirements.

  • Some out of hours' work including weekend and evenings will be required.

  • This position works within a weekly roster across City of Marion's Community

Centres.

  • This is a prescribed position as defined by the City of Marion Safe Environments for

Children and Vulnerable Persons Policy. Therefore, incumbent must:

o Promote and maintain a child safe environment and take relevant actions in

accordance with council's Safe Environments for Children and Vulnerable

Persons Policy and with legislative requirements under the Children and

Young People (Safety) Act 2017 and the Child Safety (Prohibited Persons) Act

2016.

o Satisfactorily complete a DHS Working with Children Check (to be renewed

every five years) and be willing to undertake Child Safe Training.
