Head Barista – Jefferies Cafés (Croydon Hills & Blackburn)

Jefferies is a food lover's destination, a place where fresh produce, deli goods, specialty groceries, flowers, and giftware come together to create a unique shopping and café experience. At the heart of it are our cafés, serving exceptional coffee that reflects the care and quality at the core of everything we do.

We're looking for two Head Baristas — one for Croydon Hills and one for Blackburn who are passionate, highly skilled, and deeply knowledgeable about coffee. This isn't just about making great coffee; it's about bringing your expertise to every aspect of the café experience and helping shape how our cafés operate.

Working alongside the Café Operations Manager, you'll lead the coffee program at your primary café while supporting the team across our other locations as needed. You will have the opportunity to influence coffee practices across all Jefferies cafés, maintaining high standards and consistency without being tied to constant relocation.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Lives and breathes coffee, with a deep understanding of beans, roasting methods, flavour profiles, and brewing techniques, and can translate that knowledge into every cup served
  • Has extensive barista experience, ideally in a specialty coffee environment, and can lead a team by example
  • Can train, mentor, and inspire baristas and casual staff to consistently deliver at the highest standard
  • Enjoys experimenting with new drinks, seasonal specials, and creative beverage ideas
  • Has a natural focus on consistency, quality, and creating an outstanding experience for every customer

In this role, you will:

  • Be the go-to coffee expert, setting the benchmark for quality, service, and presentation
  • Lead and mentor your team, building skills and confidence to deliver coffee excellence every day
  • Work with the Café Operations Manager to maintain and evolve café standards, processes, and operations
  • Contribute to the development of new drinks, seasonal offerings, and menu innovations
  • Oversee stock management, ordering, and the care of all coffee equipment to ensure smooth, efficient operations

This role is for a true coffee nerd whose passion, skill, and creativity go beyond making a great cup. You'll lead and inspire your team, set the standard for coffee in your café, and help shape how our cafés approach coffee across the brand.
