About the Role
As the Development Delivery Team Leader, you will:
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of development specialists to deliver high-quality outcomes across the Willoughby LGA, including development control engineers, a traffic officer, landscape architect, arborist, and waste specialist.
- Provide technical expertise on referrals related to waste management, stormwater, traffic and parking, landscape architecture, and arboriculture.
- Manage construction permits and approvals throughout the project lifecycle, supporting efficient and compliant project delivery.
- Communicate technical information clearly, negotiate with developers and contractors, and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to coordinate policy approaches and resolve complex development challenges.
- Represent Council in legal proceedings as an expert witness, contributing to sound planning decisions and upholding regulatory integrity.
- Enhance the Development Assessment Referral process by driving best practices and ensuring quality service delivery.
What You'll Bring:
- A degree or qualification in Town Planning, Urban Design, Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related field, along with solid experience in development or infrastructure projects.
- Hands-on experience managing complex or large-scale development applications, especially in busy urban or CBD environments.
- A good understanding of current Australian design standards and how they apply to development projects.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide, support and motivate a diverse team of professionals.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
- Confidence using systems to manage records and data accurately and efficiently.
Desirable:
- Experience with TechnologyOne or other cloud-based enterprise systems
