Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated
Senior Project Manager
who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in
Brisbane, Australia.
Key responsibilities:

  • Project Manage the delivery of the Kuraby to Beenleigh project, accountability for Scope, Time, Cost, Risk, Quality and Change Control.
  • Manage and coordinate the engineering, construction, testing & commissioning and verification & validation deliverables on the project.
  • Manage and coordinate the engagement of all the Participants in the resolution of Interface and Possession issues.
  • Facilitate the integrated Assurance process in accordance with the Integrated and Progressive Assurance Strategies.
  • Facilitate the Transition to Operations process in accordance with the Integration Strategies.
  • Supervising the production of the project plans and schedules.
  • Coordinating project reporting in compliance with the Alliance and Internal requirements.
  • Contract Administration.
  • Coordinating and supporting internal and external audits.
  • Attending/chairing Project meetings and arrange the preparation of progress reports, performance reviews and commercial reports.
  • Ensuring all activities undertaken are conducted with due regard to a high-level of continuous improvement.

Key knowledge and experience:
The suitable candidate will have strong experience in project management in rail systems and signalling systems, along with experience in system engineering, testing and integration activities, software verification and validation best practices and safety critical techniques.

  • Significant commercial experience (5+ years) working in complex, multi-discipline engineering projects including phases of design, procurement, construction, commissioning. Ideally within the rail industry.
  • Experience in turnkey projects (within rail signalling) highly desirable, particularly delivering systems such as ETCS.
  • Degree in Engineering, Project Management or Construction Management.
  • Training in PMP, Prince 2 or similar Project Management methodology.
  • Initiative-taking, with excellent leadership, organisational, communication and people skills.
  • Agile mindset, able to take prompt decisions in a challenging environment.
  • Ability to work and lead in a multicultural environment.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse cultural organization with multiple key stakeholders displaying highly polished interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in effective resource management and collaborating with a large multi-cultural team.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with technology providers.
  • Experience in real-time system engineering; testing and integration activities, software verification and validation best practices and safety critical techniques.
