About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic team within the construction industry. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the company's financial operations, analysing project costs, and ensuring compliance with all statutory and reporting obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, ledgers, and balance sheets
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements and analysis for the board
  • Generate cash flow forecasting reports and provide financial insights to management
  • Provide accurate financials for tax filing, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws
  • Manage monthly and year-end closing processes to ensure timely financial reporting
  • Assist with the yearly external audit process
  • Maintain the integrity of accounting records through accurate journal postings
  • Prepare and process Business Activity Statements (BAS) for ATO lodgement monthly
  • Prepare monthly board reports and management reports
  • Prepare and lodge yearly Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns
  • Prepare monthly debtors' reports and monitor receivables
  • Manage accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
  • Analyse project costs and budgets, providing regular updates to management
  • Contribute to financial forecasting, cash flow management, and performance reporting for construction projects

Requirements

  • At least a Master's Degree in Accounting (essential)
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in accounting, preferably within the construction or engineering industry sector
  • Strong understanding of job costing, progress claims, and project-based financial reporting
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, or similar)
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining financial accuracy and compliance
