Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Customs Compiler/Classifer, located in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne or Perth with some work from home flexibility. The Customs Compiler/Classifer will be responsible for preparing and processing import and export customs documentation, classifying goods correctly according to international standards, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and coordinating with various stakeholders. Day-to-day tasks include managing and updating records, providing accurate customs advice, and addressing any customs-related issues promptly.

Tasks for the role include;

-Provide a high level of customer service internally and externally for technical advice matters

-Assess commodity and non commodity documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance

-Research products thoroughly and ensure classification is in line with Government Acts and Regulations.

-Strive to identify and use the lowest rate of duty and GST

-Complete community protection questions with supporting detail

-Keep up to date with all related legislation and changes with support from management. ACN/DCN/Gazette/FTA

-Be part of internal audits

-Attend seminars as required for learning and current events. Online and face-to-face

-Work collaboratively to ensure best outcomes for the customer and business

Experience and skills required for this role include;

  • Knowledge and experience compiling and classifying a range of commodities particularly food, alcohol and chemicals.
  • Enrolled or finished the Intl Trade Course TLI50822- Diploma of Customs Broking.
  • Understanding of government regulations and law, international shipping regulations, customs procedures and INCOTERMS.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong verbal and communication skills.
  • Experience with CargoWise, BICON and COLS preferable.
  • Driven individual capable of working within a corporate, compliance driven leader within the industry.
  • Compliance focused individual.
  • General geographical knowledge.
  • Teamwork oriented.
  • Comply with Quality Management System requirements.
