Our Opportunity:
We currently have a newly created 12 month fixed term full time opportunity for a Head of Overseas Visitors Cover (OVHC) that will be responsible for the strategic leadership, operational performance, and growth of the Overseas Visitors Cover portfolio. This portfolio is ready to go through an ambitious growth agenda; as such you will drive and ensure product competitiveness, compliance, and profitability while aligning OVHC activities with the organisation's broader Private Health Insurance (PHI) strategy. The position requires a business development mindset, experience growing a market segment/product, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to drive customer-focused outcomes in a competitive regulatory environment and matrix structure.
Accountabilities include:
- Develop and execute the OVHC business strategy in line with overall organisational objectives.
- Identify growth opportunities, emerging customer needs, and competitive market trends.
- Lead product development, innovation, and diversification initiatives to enhance the OVHC offering.
- Achieve ambitious growth for this portfolio while balancing underlying portfolio risk.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the OVHC portfolio, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Collaborate with claims, contact centre sales and service, provider relations, product and marketing teams to deliver an exceptional member experience and ensure the value proposition meets expectations.
- Ensure all OVHC products comply with relevant legislation, including APRA, ASIC, and Department of Home Affairs requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policy changes and their impact on product design and pricing.
- Represent the organisation in industry bodies, committees, and government consultations relating to OVHC.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, partners, healthcare providers, and distribution networks.
- This role will report to the CEO of our Health Insurance business and is considered a leadership role (although currently does not have any direct reports).
About You:
To be successful in the role you will be able to demonstrate the following capabilities / experience:
- Experience working across both domestic PHI and international health insurance markets.
- Strong knowledge of OVHC and/or OSHC products, markets, and regulatory requirements.
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Health Administration, or related discipline.
- Familiarity with APRA reporting and Department of Home Affairs visa health insurance requirements.
- Proven leadership experience in health insurance or a closely related sector.
- Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
