About the Role

As the
Environmental Health Team Leader
, you will:

  • Lead and manage enforcement programs: Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety legislation, including the Food Act, Public Health Act, and Smoke Free Environment Act.
  • Oversee inspections and investigations: Manage health inspections for food businesses, skin penetration, hair and beauty, cooled water systems, and onsite wastewater systems.
  • Handle legal and regulatory processes: Prepare notices, fines, orders, and evidence for court proceedings, liaising with Council's solicitors when required.
  • Team supervision and development: Delegate tasks, approve leave and timesheets, conduct performance reviews, and mentor staff to maintain high standards.
  • Support operational planning: Assist with risk assessments, policies, procedures, cost centre administration, and step in as Acting Manager when needed.

What You'll Bring:

  • Extensive experience in Environmental Health in a Local Government environment.
  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Health or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret legislation for practical enforcement purposes.
  • Problem solving and decision making in the office and field; to be assertive when warranted.
  • Current C class driver licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the NSW Land and Environment and NSW Local Courts.
