Strategy and Advocacy Officer
The Colman Education Foundation is seeking a passionate and skilled person to join the Our Place team as Strategy and Advocacy Officer.
At Our Place, we believe that supporting local schools to be the heart of a community is one of the best ways to achieve long lasting change in communities experiencing disadvantage. We bring education, health and community services together at local schools, connecting families to the right support at the right time and enabling services to work better together. We also actively influence the adoption of these integrated ways of working into wider policies and systems.
We are striving to build an Our Place team that is as diverse as the communities we work within, so we encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply for this opportunity. We are committed to inclusion, flexibility and supporting staff with a work-life balance that meets their needs.
About the role
You'll provide essential policy and coordination support to ensure the delivery of impactful reporting and advocacy activities across Our Place.
Reporting to the Manager, Strategy and Advocacy and working as part of a small and flexible team, you'll support the development of high-quality reports, communications and coordination of internal and external engagements.
In a typical week in this role, you might:
- Coordinate reporting and prepare updates for government and philanthropic partners.
- Support the design and editing of reports or advocacy materials that share the impact of Our Place's work.
- Liaise with site teams and colleagues to gather data, stories and insights for reports or communications.
- Monitor media and policy developments relevant to Our Place's priorities.
- Manage planning and logistics for team meetings, working groups or stakeholder engagements.
The role combines a regular rhythm of reporting and engagements with opportunities to adapt and contribute to new projects and priorities as they emerge.
About you
We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and enjoys working collaboratively. You'll have strong attention to detail, excellent written communication skills and confidence using or learning digital tools to support reporting.
This is a great opportunity for someone who has experience in policy, communications, advocacy and/or in the government, education or community sector. We value diverse perspectives and experiences and would like to hear what skills you think you would bring to this role.
How to apply
We strongly encourage applications from people with lived experience of social or economic disadvantage and from the communities we work alongside. We value the insights and perspectives that these experiences bring to our team and our mission.
If this sounds like your perfect role, we'd love to hear from you. To apply, please visit and submit your CV and a one-page cover letter. We will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis so, if you are interested in this role, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. Applications will close on Thursday 13 November 2025.
