This role will help us develop a "Watch List" database of vulnerable heritage sites, do some research on an as-needs basis and assist with making submissions to official departments/organisations. This is a key role in the future of Geelong's heritage, both heritage-listed and potential candidates. Our committee is small, four people aged from 22 years through to senior retirees, and we are seeking to boost our visibility in the broader community. If you are comfortable, you may wish to become involved in meetings with stakeholders regarding advocacy issues. Administration & Office Management , Mediation & Advocacy , Research, Policy & Analysis , Writing & Editing Suitable for Families with Children , Skilled Volunteers , Wheelchair Access , Young Adults, 18 - 24 Commitment Regular - less than 6 months Training On the job learning from Committee members with advocacy experience. Time required A few hours each month, mostly at your convenience. Our committee meets for 2 hours every 6 weeks and volunteers do their tasks in their own time. Members meet every 3 months at a different heritage location for 2 hours, this meeting is optional for this role but attendance would be valuable to develop skills and knowledge. If you are comfortable and have the time, accompanying Committee members to meetings with stakeholders is also possible. Requirements Computer and communication skills, especially written, and meeting deadlines. Maintaining a database either in Excel or online (to be discussed). Formal writing skills in English, however mentoring will be provided for advocacy submissions. Willingness to learn about heritage. #J-18808-Ljbffr
