Lead change. Shape policy. Elevate voices.
Tandem Carers is the voice for family, carers, and supporters of people experiencing mental health challenges in Victoria. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Family Carer Policy Lead to join our dynamic Advocacy, Policy and Research team. This is more than a policy role, it's an opportunity to shape the future of mental health reform and make a tangible difference.
About the Role:
You'll play a pivotal role in shaping and influencing policy development that is founded on lived experience wisdom. You'll translate complex research and family carer lived experience insights into powerful policy advice, submissions, and advocacy that influence change at state and national levels. You'll work alongside inspiring teams, stakeholders, and lived experience experts to ensure family carers' and supporters voices are heard.
- Coordinate Tandem's policy and advocacy projects, identifying opportunities for influence and reform aligned with organisational priorities at both state and national levels.
- Lead and contribute to the development of high-quality, evidence-informed policy submissions, statements, and briefings, incorporating family carer lived and living experiences.
- Analyse and monitor emerging policy, legislation, and system reform issues, contributing to timely and impactful advocacy responses in collaboration with the team.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with government, community services, and advocacy partners.
- Hybrid position at 0.6 FTE.
What Makes Me Ideal:
- Strong experience in public policy, systems reform, or advocacy within mental health, disability, or social services.
- Proven ability to deliver impactful policy strategies and submissions.
- Lived experience supporting someone with mental health challenges.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Why join Tandem:
- Be part of a values-driven organisation committed to inclusion, integrity, respect, and collaboration.
- Work in a flexible and supportive environment with hybrid working options.
- Contribute to real reform that transforms lives.
- A supportive, diverse, and empowering environment that values your lived experience.
Your next step:
If you are ready to bring your policy expertise and lived experience insight to a role that will truly make a difference, we want to hear from you.
