The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system in Victoria focusing on prevention, diversion, and early intervention as the most effective and fiscally responsible ways of reducing youth crime.

The Youth Justice Learning and Capability team is part of the Transformation, Development and Capability business unit, responsible for transformation, learning and development to support employees. The team delivers training across Youth Justice Custody and Community areas, spanning induction training to refresher, upskilling and professional development training.

Learning and Capability's purpose is to enable staff to grow their capabilities through quality learning and professional development services, to better serve our community.

The Opportunity

  • Fixed term, full-time position until June 30th 2026 based in Werribee.
  • VPS Grade 4 role: $97,955 - $111,142 per year plus superannuation.
  • Oversee daily facilities operations, including maintenance, repairs, cleaning, and security, to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
  • Coordinate with contractors and service providers to deliver timely, high-quality, and compliant works.
  • Drive preventative maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives to optimise facility performance.
  • Ensure all facilities, equipment, and systems meet operational, safety, and legislative standards.
  • Prepare and maintain training spaces, ensuring all rooms, equipment, and amenities are ready to support learning delivery.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to resolve issues, enhance service delivery, and improve facility operations.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in building and maintenance repairs for general building and construction environment
  • Well-developed knowledge and understanding of legislation and policies relevant to building and maintenance, OH&S, and security services.
  • Relevant experience in the coordination of specialist trades/contractors for specific works
  • requested.
  • Proven strong computer skills and ability to use internal databases and systems.
  • Trade and/or Facilities Management background desirable.
  • A current driver's licence is preferred, but not essential.
  • Working at Heights certification desirable

You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check, which you will need to maintain for the period of employment.
