Position Title: Senior Automotive Mechanic

Reports To: Operations Manager

Location: North Melbourne

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Purpose

The Senior Automotive Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a wide range of vehicles within a growing workshop. This hands-on role suits an experienced mechanic who can work independently, take ownership of their work and contribute to the success of a small but dedicated team. The position requires a high standard of workmanship, problem-solving ability and commitment to keeping workshop operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities


• Carry out suspension and diagnostic repairs related to collision damage across a variety of vehicle makes and models.


• Perform routine maintenance, safety checks and inspections.


• Diagnose faults accurately and recommend appropriate repair solutions.


• Ensure a clean, safe and organised workspace in line with WHS requirements.


• Assist with day-to-day workshop operations.


• Contribute to a positive team environment by sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues.

Requirements


• Minimum 5 years experience as a mechanic or mechanical repairer is a MUST


• Relevant trade qualification in Automotive Mechanical Technology (preferred but not essential).


• Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, diagnostics and repair techniques.


• Ability to work independently and manage allocated jobs efficiently.


• Excellent attention to detail, fault-finding and problem-solving skills.


• Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.


• Strong time management and organisational skills.


• Current valid driver's licence.


• Own tools (preferred).
