About the Role:

This is a Permanent Full-Time position at 80 hrs per fortnight (including ADO) within the Occupational Therapy Department. This is a unique opportunity to influence and facilitate the strategic and operation direction of the Royal Children's Hospital occupational therapy service. You will oversee clinical governance and promote compliance with clinical standards.

Classification for this position will range from Grade 4 Year 1 to Grade 4 Year 4, VG14-VG17 (base salary $126,079 to $138,928 per annum, plus superannuation and higher qualification allowance).

  • Development, review and maintenance of administrative processes, communication mechanisms and service delivery consistent with the principles of continuous improvement

  • Generation of innovation and healthcare initiatives that improve delivery of healthcare

  • Contribution to strategic planning of the Department, that align with organisational values and strategic plan

  • Strong collaborations with occupational therapists, patients and families, other RCH staff and external stakeholders

Your skills and experience:

  • Clinical expertise specific to infants, children, and adolescents within the tertiary hospital setting

  • Demonstrated ability to lead clinical and operational teams, promoting excellence in service delivery, continuous improvement, clinical governance and education

  • Exceptional professional, interpersonal and self-reflection skills to enable effective work with people of different personalities and backgrounds

  • Highly developed supervision and education skills

About Occupational Therapy Department:

Occupational Therapy (OT) is within the Allied Health Directorate, in the Division of Ambulatory Services, and comprises of over 20 occupational therapists, who provide assessment and intervention across 3 distinct clinical streams. Led by the OT senior leadership team, the streams cover inpatient trauma, neurodevelopmental disabilities, and hand therapy; providing evidence-based care to inpatient and outpatient infants, children, adolescents, and their families. As part of a tertiary hospital, the RCH occupational therapy team collaborates with community services, universities, and other external agencies to optimise occupational outcomes and quality of life for all children.
