About the role
NSW Public Works (NSW PW) is part of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and supports many different local and state government agencies to deliver critical infrastructure initiatives by providing expert advisory, planning, design, delivery and support services.
We are currently seeking Project Managers to join the Greater Sydney Region team working in the Parramatta Office. NSW Public Works is a division of the Department of Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD). This role is office based but you will be making regular site inspections. The role is working on the client-side and being responsible for delivering one or more construction projects of low or medium risk and complexity. Alternatively, you may be assigned to a team managing the delivery of highly complex projects.
As a NSW Public Works Project Manager you will be expected to manage and contribute to the planning and delivery of building and civil infrastructure projects and ensure time, cost, quality, safety and environment targets and corporate expectations are met. Our Project Managers are responsible for the management and administration of contracts, including claims evaluation and negotiation.
The role provides an exciting chance to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and participate in business development activities, contributing towards opportunities for repeat and new business.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience of project management delivering construction contracts or managing design consultants. You will be articulate and possess the capability to foster business relationships. To be considered for this role, you will meet the following essential requirements which can be found in the role description, as well as the following:
- Appropriate university qualifications. In architecture, building, project management, civil engineering or similar relevant qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in managing the planning, procurement and delivery of building projects, office fit-out projects or civil works
- Preferably 2-3 years minimum demonstrated construction management experience or design management experience
- Contract management experience, including consultant contracts or construction contracts and preferably GC21 and MW21 contract administration
- Contribute to infrastructure planning and delivery by actively participating in project planning meetings and executing assigned tasks under the guidance of a Senior Project Manager
- Excellent written, interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment
- Ability to effectively utilise digital tools and platforms to support project delivery
- Strong relationship skills, with an ability to influence positive outcomes and provide excellent client service
- Leadership qualities sound reasoning and problem-solving ability
- Current NSW Driver Licence and preparedness to travel if required
- Well-developed knowledge and understanding of current Work Health and Safety legislation and regulations
- Employment screening checks, security or other clearances and health assessments
