About the Role:

The position will be reporting to our Client Manager's and this development accounting role will be focused on productive learning whilst supporting the day-to-day operation of the business. This role will involve the following duties but not limited to:

  • Assisting in completing year-end Financial Accounts and Income tax returns for both individuals and companies
  • Assisting the Accountants and Directors with Client Management Reporting
  • Preparing trial balance, and reviewing all asset, liability, expense and income general ledger accounts
  • Posting monthly journals for payroll cost, employee superannuation and PAYG withholding tax, salary sacrifice, commissions and employee termination payment
  • Structuring accounting entries, compliance-based auditing, producing accounting information and record-keeping
  • Provided services to clients such as preparing Business Activity Statements (BAS), GST returns and PAYG Reports
  • Implementation and administration of accounting information systems of Xero.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Client Managers, Accountants and Directors to complete assignments accurately, according to the firm's operational manual and standards.
  • Ensure work is completed within the specified time frame and alert the Manager where a job is at risk of falling behind schedule prior to the deadline.
  • Work towards finding solutions for what you don't know and ask the questions necessary to complete work on time.
  • Work as a team with all team members of the firm and value the individual contributions and abilities of your colleagues.

About the opportunity and skills:

You will be required to have the following skills in order to perform in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred, and consideration for those that are nearly completed
  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or Assistant Accountant.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software (preferably XERO) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to learn and progress through our development program
