Overview
We are looking for an early career People and Culture professional to take advantage of this opportunity to develop a broad career foundation within a small, friendly and well respected People and Culture team. You will be a genuine team player, who enjoys building positive relationships with a diverse range of people and be happy to take on a variety of different work.
The People and Culture team is responsible for delivery of services across the full employee lifecycle from attraction of great talent, development of team members and supporting wellbeing and our great culture. As the People and Culture Officer you'll find every day will be different. The role works closely with the Head of People and Culture and the Senior People and Culture Advisor, to deliver a range of recruitment, onboarding and learning services, contribute to our culture journey, research new initiatives, support policy reviews and prepare reports and presentations.
This is a part time (0.6 or 0.7 FTE) contract role for six months with the possibility of extension, based in Newstead, Qld. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the delivery of services and support across the full employee lifecycle including scoping new roles, undertaking recruitment, selection and onboarding processes, organising learning initiatives and supporting performance planning and development.
- Completion of all People and Culture related administrative tasks such as employment contracts, probation management, employee separations, payroll documents and assignment of compliance learning.
- Support the development and coordination of online and corporate induction programs.
- Research learning programs and other initiatives and make recommendations.
- Support the LGAQ wellbeing program through research, recommendation and delivery of wellness initiatives.
- Assist in reviewing LGAQ policies and providing policy guidance.
- Contribute to the LGAQ culture through role modelling and application of the CARE Behaviours and participation in workplace activities.
- Provide support to the Head of People and Culture and Senior People and Culture Advisor by conducting research, preparing reports and presentations.
- Coordinate the development and delivery of the staff meeting program.
- Prepare agendas, minutes and coordinate meetings for the WHS Committee
- Support and continually improve use and efficiency of all systems used in the delivery of People and Culture services.
- Maintain accurate records across all employee systems.
- Deliver a professional standard of customer service to all internal stakeholders.
- Undertake project work as required.
- Maintain effective communication with staff and key stakeholders internal and external to the LGAQ.
- Adhere to all workplace relevant legislation and LGAQ policies.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Psychology or other related area with up to two years experience in a People and Culture related work environment, or equivalent People and Culture skills and experience.
- Proven ability to build trust, rapport and confidence with employees and managers and work effectively either independently or as part of a small team.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake research, identify and assess options and make recommendations.
- Proficient in the use of technology to support People and Culture activities including HRIS, Recruitment, Learning and WHS.
- An ability to ensure compliance with policies and employment related legislation.
- Well developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in relation to all People and Culture matters.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities when delivering services.
