About the role

As a Disability Support Worker at Bright Futures NQ PTY LTD, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities to live independently and actively participate in their local community. This is a casual role based in Cairns, QLD.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing personalised support to clients in their homes and community settings to assist with daily living activities
  • Facilitating engagement in recreational, social and educational activities to promote independence and wellbeing
  • Advocating for clients' rights and ensuring their needs are met with empathy and respect
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualised support plans
  • Documenting client progress and communicating effectively with relevant stakeholders
  • Adhering to organisational policies, procedures and workplace health and safety requirements

What we're looking for

  • A demonstrated passion for supporting individuals with disability and a commitment to upholding their rights
  • Relevant qualifications in disability support, community services or a related field
  • Experience providing direct care and assistance to individuals with varying support needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport
  • A problem-solving mindset and the flexibility to adapt to the unique needs of each client
  • A current driver's licence and access to reliable transportation
  • A Working with Vulnerable People check is required before commencing employment
