One of our federal Government clients is seeking to engage Cloud Service Manager/FinOps Cloud Manager for Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane location (Hybrid arrangement) .

Please note Candidate must have Australian citizenship, security clearance will be preferred

Initial contract duration-12 Months

Extension term-Up to a maximum of 12 Months

Location of work-ACT, NSW, QLD, VIC

Working arrangements-Hybrid

Maximum hours-40 hours per week

Cloud Service Managers monitor cloud usage and work with Cloud Architects and cloud service consumers to ensure cloud service usage is meeting, and can be evolved to better meet, agency objectives. Maintain awareness of cloud service offerings as well as business and customer usage and demands, then advises on, plan and optimises the consumption of cloud services by the agency.

Key duties and responsibilities

The Administrative Review Tribunal plays a crucial role in the Australian legal landscape, providing a process for individuals and organisations to seek an independent review of decisions made under a wide range of Commonwealth laws.

The ART is seeking an experienced Cloud Service Manager to advise and assist the CIO in monitoring, analysing and optimising cloud spend across the ART. The objective of this role is to enhance cloud cost transparency, optimise cloud spend, and align cloud usage with business goals through provision of dedicated FinOps expertise.

Essential criteria

1. Monitoring and Analysing cloud spending across ART (in particular for Azure spend). Identifying cost anomalies and trends and providing root cause analysis.

2. Recommending appropriate cost optimisation strategies (e.g. rightsizing, reservation purchasing, autoscaling). Input to development of appropriate governance frameworks (including policies and guardrails for cost control)

3. Leading FinOps reviews and cost optimisation workshops with key ART internal/external stakeholders Working with key directors to create, manage and report on cloud budgets.

4. Developing and maintaining cost forecasting models based on usage patterns and business requirements. Developing and maintaining dashboards using appropriate tools and software.

5. Delivering monthly, quarterly and yearly cost and usage reports to key stakeholders Creating and managing baseline cloud cost assessment reports

Desirable criteria

1. Azure fundamentals certification Azure Solutions Architect certification

2. Cost Professional certification (AACE, PMP etc)

3. Vocational certification in modern development certifications (Microsoft, Azure, AWS, etc) and modern technology approaches including Agile, Scrum, SAFe, ITIL, TOGAF, COBIT, PRINCE2/PMBOK are highly desirable.

4. FinOps Certified (Engineer, Practitioner or Professional)
