FinOps Consultant

FinOps Consultant Contract Duration:12 months + potential extensions Location of work:Canberra

We are looking for a FinOps Consultant to join our team at a federal government department in Canberra. The FinOps Consultant will look at options that manage and optimise cloud spend, along with evolving traditional financial management processes to adapt to the opportunities of an Enterprise-wide Cloud environment.

*Role Responsibilities:*

• Develop independent cost estimates and undertake analysis for workloads migrating to the multi-cloud environment and support cloud hosting decisions
• Develop and manage whole of life cycle costs and cost models for the project
• Consult with Cloud providers and various stakeholders (such as, but not limited to Cloud Operations, Lifecycle Management, Finance, and other teams) to develop FinOps models, procedures, processes, policies, and other relevant artefacts, leading to the development and implementation of FinOps automation tools
• Data analysis and normalisation, to support cost estimate development, independent review and analysis of cost estimates and program reviews
• Evaluate and provide recommendations on cost estimation policy, guidance, processes, methods, tools and training to improve cost estimation and analysis
• Communicate in a clear concise and articulate manner and develop well-structured informed reports (including financial reports) as required on financial operations activities, ensuring compliance with relevant financial policies and standards
• Identify and recommend opportunities to optimise costs, such as by using cost-effective hardware, software, or services, to ensure that the project is making the most efficient use of its resources
• Identify and manage financial risks associated with the project, such as the risk of cost overruns, the risk of unforeseen expenses, or the risk of vendor lock-in
• Apply in-depth knowledge and experience of financial operations activities and legislative requirements
