We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Building Estimator
to join a well-established and privately owned family business with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality residential homes across Southeast Queensland.
This is a great opportunity to work within a supportive and professional team environment, assisting our Senior Estimator and Sales Team on a range of current and upcoming residential projects. If you're experienced in construction and sales estimating and looking to grow your career with a trusted builder, we want to hear from you.
As an Estimator, you'll play a key role in supporting the construction process by accurately preparing quantity take-offs, managing documentation, issuing purchase orders, and working with our team to ensure smooth project delivery. You will have a solid understanding of the residential construction process and be proficient in using
Databuild
and other management software.
Estimator Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret construction drawings, including site plans, floor plans, elevations, and engineering details.
- Perform quantity take-offs from 2D plans (e.g., LM of skirting, m² of tiling, m³ of concrete).
- Identify scopes of work for various trades and link quantities to cost codes using Databuild.
- Assist with issuing and tracking purchase orders and maintaining scope of works/quote documentation.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing or clarify details.
- Assist with both construction and
sales estimating
including pricing upgrades, variations, and custom client requests on active and prospective contracts. - Maintain accurate and organised project documentation, emails, and folders.
- Follow internal systems and workflows for consistent estimating and documentation.
- Investigate and report on additional or duplicate purchase orders to ensure accuracy.
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in two story homes and a project builder.
- Working knowledge of
Databuild
software is essential. - Proficient in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, formatting, data entry).
- Strong understanding of Australian construction standards, including NCC/BCA, QDC, and manufacturer's installation guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
