TasPorts is a key facilitator of the Tasmanian cruise ship segment which is forecast to deliver over 150 cruise ship calls statewide to Tasmania during the season. TasPorts operates the primary Tasmanian cruise ship ports of Hobart and Burnie as well as several smaller, regional ports and anchorages.  The cruise ship sector is an important part of the Tasmanian visitor economy which delivers significant economic benefit to the State.

What are we looking for?

Sitting within TasPorts Commercial and Trade Team, we are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to coordinate TasPorts cruise portfolio. The role will have a primary focus on enhancing customer relationships within the cruise sector to optimise customer experience and drive business performance.

This is a permanent, full-time role based in TasPorts Corporate Office in Hobart. Flexible working hours may be negotiable for the right applicant.

What do you do?

Cruise Sector Coordination

  • Support seasonal planning for cruise ships visits, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

Customer Communication & Relationship Management

  • Respond to customer inquiries promptly, courteously, and professionally across all channels (email, phone, social media, etc.).

Engagement Campaigns & Initiatives

  • Collaborate with the Commercial and Trade team members to provide support on customer engagement activities.

Customer Feedback & Insights

  • Monitor, collect and assist with responding to customer feedback.
  • Identify trends, concerns, and opportunities to enhance the customer experience.

CRM & Data Management

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records in the CRM system.
  • Generate reports on engagement metrics and customer activity as required.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a customer advocate internally, ensuring customer voices are represented in decision-making.

What do you need:

  • proven ability to understand customers' needs, possess excellent customer relationship management skills and have demonstrated entrepreneurial skills in a commercial environment;
  • strong commercial awareness and proven ability to develop business cases that improve commercial outcomes;
  • demonstrable conceptual/analytical capability;
  • strong proposal management and team co-ordination skills;
  • experience in sales, marketing and/or customer relationship management in a similar environment;

While experience in the cruise sector, shipping or marine operations environment is deemed to be an advantage, it is not essential.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Current drivers' licence
  • Demonstrated administrative and coordination experience Particularly in customer service, commercial sectors, or logistics—ideally with exposure to stakeholder engagement or cruise/maritime operations.
  • Capability to obtain and hold a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualification in the field of marketing, business or commerce and/or relevant experience in a similar position.
