Primary objective

The Director Stakeholder and Business Strategy is an essential position as it provides strategic leadership and critical support to the Senior

Director Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Programs and Services (SWIPS) and the Stakeholder and Business Strategy team. The role is an

important conduit for two-way communication with internal and external stakeholders. The Director leads and oversees SWIPS

stakeholder functions including relationship management, strategic communications, branch secretariat services, as well as business

functions including business planning, governance and risk management, budget coordination and workforce strategy.

Context statement

Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Programs and Services (SWIPS) is part of Inclusion and Engagement Services, which provides

differentiated support services to reform inclusion and improve engagement and access to learning for children, students, and

communities. Student Wellbeing and Inclusion provides advice, guidance and support to clients and stakeholders to ensure all children

and students are welcomed into an inclusive learning environment and are able to engage effectively with education and learn to their full

potential.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Lead the development and implementation of the SWIPS stakeholder relationship management strategy, ensuring functional and

transparent communication with stakeholders that promotes a consistent understanding of client service requirements and delivery.

2. Provide strategic relationship management advice for key SWIPS projects and programs from commissioning to implementation,

delivery and evaluation.

3. Lead and coordinate branch secretariat services and support for the Senior Director SWIPS.

  1. Lead development and implementation of SWIPS workforce strategies including attraction, recruitment and retention to support

delivery of SWIPS policies, programs and multi-disciplinary services to NT schools.

5. Lead strategic coordination of SWIPS business and budget planning, governance, risk management and monitoring to maximise

branch effectiveness in delivery of policy, programs and services.

6. Lead and coordinate branch operating model, functional design and governance to ensure effective operation of all branch functions.

7. Lead the development and implementation of systems that facilitate collaboration with other department and external stakeholders

and contractors to improve services and align with department priorities.

8. Lead, manage and foster teamwork, collaborative behaviour and continuous improvement in the SWIPS Stakeholder and Business

Strategy team.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated high-level leadership in strategic planning, conceptual, and analytical skills as related to leading strategic stakeholder

management and engagement and strategic business functions including workforce strategy development and implementation.

2. Highly developed written and verbal communications skills, interpersonal and negotiating skills in managing complex strategic

projects and programs and related change management processes.

3. High level adaptability and flexibility, with proven ability to lead, develop and motivate a team in high pressure and change in a rapidly

evolving environment, and modify approaches depending on context.

4. Proven expertise in fostering high-level collaboration and facilitating transparent communication between stakeholders, clients and

service providers, integrating advanced change management skills to drive an improvement agenda.

5. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and with accountability, demonstrated strong work ethic, integrity and adeptness in

managing multiple priorities for culturally diverse stakeholders.

Desirable

1. Tertiary qualification in stakeholder relations, communications, business strategy or a field relevant to the key responsibilities of the

position.
